The GoSports 6ft or 7ft Billiards pool table, is a fascinating portable pool table, and one that really perked my interest when reviewing it.

If you are on a tight budget, the 6ft GoSports portable pool table is less expensive than the 7ft table, but performs equally well.

The Aesthetics

GoSports have done a great job on the aesthetics and the table comes in different colored playing cloth:

  1. Black
  2. Red
  3. Blue

For a budget friendly portable table, it’s a standout feature.

The black felt looks amazing with the all black frame.

Usually I would prefer blue playing cloth on regular sized tables, but considering this is aimed at causal play, the black is hard to beat.

However, I understand not everyone will agree with me on this one, so personal taste will drive the decision here.

The Materials

The two main materials used in the construction of GoSports Portable Table are:

  • Wood
  • Metal

The frame is constructed out of alloy steel, and feels a lot sturdier than most others in this range.

If you’re hoping for slate quality, you won’t get it here, the bed is made from MDF, which is no surprise in the budget range

However, its performance won’t let you down. If kept in the right conditions, the MDF should last at least 2–5 years without noticeable warping.

  • The 7ft table does feel like an average bar box table
  • The 6ft table will feel that little bit smaller

The sizes are something to bear in mind if you usually play on barroom pool tables and are interested in something similar to play on at home.

The Felt

Though the felt looks amazing, it is also one of the table’s drawbacks.

  • The material lacks the durability of true pool table felt quality
  • The felt can’t be replaced, which will be a problem if it gets ripped or torn

You will need to take a care with your shot selection and avoid masses and jump shots.

You will also need to keep on top of table maintenance, which includes regular cleaning and things like no smoking or sitting on the edge of the table.

The Gameplay

Overall, it’s hard to find a fault in how the table plays.

Yes, it’s never going to compare to a full sized slate table, but that is not the intention of the manufacturers here.

  • The balls travel well over the playing surface and will be thoroughly enjoyed by casual players and beginners alike.
  • The playing surface on the 7ft size is 25% bigger than the 6ft size

The Assembly

The GoSports 6ft or 7ft Billiards Portable Pool Table has no problem when it comes to assemble.

  • It comes ready to play completely out of the box
  • Unfold the legs like a folding table and you’re ready to go

When you set up your table, you will need to check the level and surprisingly, it does come pretty level.

You may need to make slight adjustments to the legs, but on the whole it’s very easy to level

It also keeps level for a long time on stable flooring, which can be hard to find with portable style tables

The Weight

GoSports Portable have produced a very light table, and is a thumbs up from me.

  • The 6ft table weighs 120 pounds
  • The 7ft table is weighs 150 pounds.

If you are looking for a portable pool table, you don’t want one that is too heavy to move anywhere alone.

With that being said, you will need another pair of hands to help lift it anywhere. However, making slight adjustments to its position in the room when it is already set up can be done on your own

The Accessories

The GoSports 6ft or 7ft Billiards Portable Table also comes with:

  • 2 cue sticks
  • 16 balls
  • One table brush
  • 2 pieces of chalk
  • One rack

The accessories that GoSports have included with the table are standard and are fine to get you started.

Truthfully, I never expect too much from the standard equipment that comes as a package with new tables, especially budget ones.

  • The plastic rack works surprisingly well
  • The balls are heavy with a good roll
  • The cues are not the best that money can buy, but for beginners and casual players, they will be fine

If you do intend on playing regularly and improving your game, you will need a higher quality cue.

Before you do anything, you will need a proper pool table brush, one that can be used on the entire table.

The felt brush that GoSports have included is only meant for under the rails.

Who Is The GoSports 6ft or 7ft Billiards Portable Pool Table For?

The GoSports 6ft or 7ft Billiards Portable Pool Table is a great pool table for:

  • Beginners
  • Casual players
  • Those tight on space
  • Players on a tight budget

Should You Buy It?

Overall, it’s a great table to play on and learn the game on a budget that won’t bust the bank.

If you are a beginner, it is a pool table that you will find immense value in.

Causal players, ones who only play every so often, will also love the convenience of its portability and lightweight yet sturdy frame.

Competitive players may find it a nice practice table to work out timing, but don’t expect to be able to play masses or jump shots on it.
